Time of changes
Submitted by lubo on Sun, 05/07/2006 - 00:26It's 39th week, so the baby can come out any moment now. Most probably tomorrow will be the latest test with the doctor and I hope everything will be OK next few days. The time is going very slow, though. I am sharing my time between my work and Velina. The good news is that after the hot days and storms last week, we have better wheater now and we can go out for a walk or small shopping tours and according to the forecast it will be good for next few weeks, which is realy, realy good...
Meanwhile, some of the biggest IT heads were in Sofia: Google Vice President Vinton Cerf, Microsoft's Senior Vice President Eric Rudder, Brian Cute, Fred Baker, Executive Director of the Global Internet Policy Initiative George Sadowsky, etc. Unfortunately, I had no chance to meet none of them, but just the fact that they are here makes me feel more confident that the things in the IT branch are getting better and we are going in the right direction, regardless of the government's policy sometime...
And finaly, I am considering to quit smoking. Most of my friends know that I've been thinking about this step for a while. It has nothing to do with the baby...I am just too old to do that anymore... I know it won't be easy- I've red that only 7% of the people tried to quit smoking just with the will power have managed to do it. But, the plan is to manage it to be in those 7% and I intend to try very hard, so please, don't ask me (or offer) for cigarettes anymore...:)
Cheers,
Lubo
Show your appreciation
Submitted by lubo on Sun, 05/07/2006 - 00:19This year, Friday, July 28th, 2006, is the 7th annual System Administrator Appreciation Day. On this special international day, give your System Administrator something that shows that you truly appreciate their hard work and dedication.
Let's face it, System Administrators get no respect 364 days a year. This is the day that all fellow System Administrators across the globe, will be showered with expensive sports cars and large piles of cash in appreciation of their diligent work. But seriously, we are asking for a nice token gift and some public acknowledgement. It's the least you could do. Consider all the daunting tasks and long hours (weekends too.) Let's be honest, sometimes we don't know our System Administrators as well as they know us. Remember this is one day to recognize your System Administrator for their workplace contributions and to promote professional excellence. Thank them for all the things they do for you and your business.

When you love skype, it will send it's love back... Last December, Skype had a campaign- when you bought Skype Gift Certificates between December 16 and December 29, 2005, you entered a lottery where you could win a webcam. I did not know that, but I am happy to share with you we have campaign results now, and I am one of the winners. Hurray:)

Tord Gustavsen Trio
Submitted by lubo on Mon, 03/13/2006 - 00:09
"The Ground is uniformly beautiful, and the trio's rigorously restrained playing is a complete marvel. I've already saved space at the top of my 2005 list for The Ground."(JazzTimes)
"Changing Places is a beauty ... yearning, tender meditations, occasionally coloured with the palest of the Blues, and the compositions have the quiet, sometimes folky ecstacies of Pat Metheny's or Keith Jarrett's ballads, with a quiet insistence that'll have you humming them for days to come. Gustavsen's music is .. fresh, intuitive and heartfelt. A truly beautiful record that (if there's any justice) will find a place as one of ECM's finest releases of the last few years, and probably a place in your heart too. Gorgeous." (BBC Jazz)
"Piano playing that really shines; and that is bravely relaxed. ... The trio possesses the unique ensemble quality that gives three players a fourth voice. The more I listen, the more I like the un-sweetened beauty of this music. And what a wonderful phrasing Gustavsen displays; in melody stating and in improvisations alike. His solos are on-the-spot-compositions of a standard that only the best musicians are capable of -- the likes of Pat Metheny and Keith Jarrett" (Göteborgsposten - Sweden)
